Third generation landscaping company

Action Landscaping is a top-rated family owned and operated third generation landscape contractor offering fine craftsmanship of quality materials.  The company was founded in 1981 by Walt & Jean Barbagallo. The business was initially operated from the family farm in Imperial, Missouri, offering commercial lawn care, landscape maintenance and snow removal. Walt worked daily with his crew to ensure customer satisfaction. As the company grew, Walt transitioned from his daily labor-intensive duties into a sales and management role. He worked in that capacity until passing away at the age of 70. Walt had a larger than life personality along with a kind heart. He would be so proud to see where his legacy Action Landscaping is today!

The 2nd generation of the company began with his son Tom. Upon earning a Construction Management Degree, Tom built on the company’s impeccable reputation starting a crew specializing in landscape construction offering the installation of concrete block retaining walls, planting, and paver projects. Today, 32 years later, he operates heavy equipment; leads a retaining wall crew several days per week; and is number one in landscaping sales.

Walt’s son Tim grew up working seasonally with the landscape crew. He developed a noticeable passion for the business in high school. Tim acquired a horticultural and design background then started working full time with the company at the age of 20. In addition to leading his detail oriented crew of landscape installers; Tim efficiently schedules all of the projects while also being instrumental in the company branding.
With an Economics degree in hand and a seasonal history of working with the company, we proudly welcomed Tom’s son Joe to the team full time in 2020. Proudly, his commitment to the team marks the 3rd generation of Action Landscaping, Inc.! Joe runs a highly reviewed installation crew who customarily receives praise from clients for being hard working and courteous.

Premier Landscape Contractor

In 2005 Action Landscaping, Inc moved to our new home at 2858 Seckman Road in Imperial Missouri where our team designed & constructed a state-of-the art landscape contractors facility. High quality hardscape materials which are transported from all over the midwest are categorized in our 3 acre material yard. Plants which are shipped to our location in an enclosed trailer are staged under a shade canopy for protection. Our fleet of trucks and equipment are all systematically parked inside the 10,000 square foot shop to keep them clean. Our hand tools are accounted for and specifically arranged at the end of each day. Clients and designers collaborate in our design center to bring projects to life using our 2D and 3D modeling software. All aspects of our location demonstrate our endeavor to run a facility that mirrors the efficiency of operation that our clients can expect from us on their project site. Our clients can trust that we will arrive in newer clean trucks with the proper equipment to complete their project in an efficient and organized fashion from start to finish. Through over 45 years of being a dedicated and driven landscape contractor providing top-rated service Action Landscaping, Inc has become the premier landscape contractor in Imperial, Missouri.

We love our crew members that round out our installation team! Pedro, Axel, Marcos, Rogelio, and Jorge travel from Michoacan, Mexico every year on a work visa. They are away from their families for 9 months to work with our company. The crew are not only dedicated individuals but also exhibit the definition of “hard-working genuinely kind people.”

Professional Landscaping Team

No landscape company would be complete without office professionals, creative designers, and the installation crew. Stephanie handles the daily internal operations of the company. Among other things, she procures materials, creates proposals, organizes project details, and handles the accounting of the company.

Tricia is Stephanie’s right hand creative collaborator scheduling appointments, designing 3D landscapes, and more. She is energetic and passionate along with having an artistic eye.

Rob is the newest addition to the company.  His horticultural background and love for nature fuels his expertise in landscape design / sales. Starting with in-depth conversation through the design and installation phases Rob turns his clients landscape dreams into reality!
